Whether your venue is a church, on the beach, near a lake, or your backyard, we’ll show you how you can use various wedding flowers to decorate an arch and other wedding arch decoration ideas.
Decorate a Wedding Arch

For the big day, the arch has been purchased already. However, it’s plain and empty; without any decorations of any kind. The first thing that comes to your mind is different types of exotic flowers. But that might be expensive and throw your budget out in the air.

There’s no need to worry. You can create romantic wedding arches with flowers that doesn’t ruffle up your calculations. Whether you’re planning a wedding on a budget or going all out, you have to have a gorgeous wedding arch. And you can do so with few simple materials and a little bit of creativity.

Materials Required
  • 12 yards of white 2½” wide ribbon
  • 8 stems pink open roses
  • 8 fern stems
  • 8 stems grass
  • 6 stems purple hydrangeas
  • 6 stems green baby’s breath
  • 4 stems stephanotis
  • 4 stems purple lilacs
  • 4 pink rose bushes w/o stems
  • 3 ivy garlands
  • 2 stems purple delphiniums
  • 3 yards of green sheer 7/8″ wide ribbon
  • 2 yards of pink sheer 7/8″ wide ribbon
  • 2 yards of ¼” wide pink satin ribbon
  • 2 stem peach blossoms
  • 2 stems white prunus blossoms
  • 1 yard of pink tulle netting
  • 1 2/3 yards of white tulle netting
  • 1 stem white hydrangea
  • 1 stem large queen size white rose
  • 1 wisteria garland
Directions

To secure the flowers on the arch, you’ll need floral wire, floral tape, wire cutters, and scissors for the job. First of all, we’ll make 2 bouquets to secure together. Take artificial grass, ferns, and the ivy garland together to place at least half of the materials you have over them. However, keep the large rose and hydrangeas on one side. Arrange the flowers in such a way that it uses up half of your arch. Take floral wire to secure everything properly. You can also use floral tape to place them over the wire and hide it. Now take half of the 12 yards white ribbon and tie a knot from one end over the stems of the bouquet. And with the pink and green (you can use any different colors depending on your wedding theme), tie a knot at the bottom of the white ribbon. Following the same steps, you’ll make another bouquet as well.

Now comes the pink and white tulle netting. Make 2 loops with both colors over the arch. Take both bouquets and arrange them either together or at different ends of the arch. Arrange the hydrangeas across the arch and place the large white rose in the center. You can also arrange some more hydrangeas and tulle netting on both sides of the arch as well. Using various colors of tulle that compliments the flowers will enhance the look of the arch.

How should you go about decorating a hall for a wedding. Hmmm… tricky one. But I’m sure we can get to the other side of this huge task. A wedding is a reflection of love, trust, commitment, and a lifetime of bond. When you are planning and making arrangements for your wedding, many brides-to-be pay close attention to various things. But the one thing that is always on their minds, besides the wedding dress, is how to decorate a reception hall. Once the actual wedding ceremony is over, the reception party is the time to enjoy, relax, and celebrate your union with family and close friends. So why not do it in style? Am I right? So keep reading the rest of the article and find out how you can bring style to your wedding reception party.
Decorating a Hall for a Wedding

You must have been planning for this day for months now and finally, that day is not far away. However, before you can even think of setting foot in the reception hall, there are tons of things you need to manage. So the first place to start with to decorate a wedding hall. And here are our suggestions.

Selecting the Venue
First and foremost, have you finalized the venue for your wedding reception? This can be determined by the number of guests attending the party. When you have the final head count, you can select the hall as per its capacity. Make sure that you don’t take a huge hall for few people. For example, if there are 200 people attending, then don’t reserve a hall that has the capacity of 500. This will only mean that you have more area to decorate which quite frankly, is going to waste.

The Entrance of the Hall
For decorating the venue, let’s begin with the entrance. You can decorate the entrance with flowers and lace, place statues, have ice sculptures, etc.; your budget will help you decide how lavish or frugal you wish to be. At the entrance, you will need to keep a table where the guest book will be. Alongside, the names of the guests on the cards will be written so they can find their respective tables. You can also decorate the table with the same tablecloth used inside for all the tables and some flower petals.

Flower of the Season
Selecting the theme for your wedding reception is very important. And by theme I mean the color combination you want to use in the hall. These colors (or color) will be used for decorating the tables and chairs. Also, the flowers you select can also be included in here.
  • Spring Wedding Flowers – Casa Blanca Lily, Lilacs, Peony, Daffodil, Tulip, Star Gazer Lily, Sweet Pea, Waxflower, etc.
  • Summer Wedding Flowers – English Lavender, Iris, Hydrangea, Larkspur, Freesia, Queen Anne’s Lace, Zinnia, etc.
  • Fall Wedding Flowers – Aster, Dahlia, Marigold, Statice, and Zinnia.
  • Winter Wedding Flowers – Daffodil, Casa Blanca Lily, Daffodil, Camellias, Jasmine, Poinsettia, Star Gaze Lily, Tulip, Sweet Pea, Waxflower, etc.

See? There are so many choices of flowers and hence, the theme for the reception. Choose the colors according to the flowers of the season you are including in your wedding. Only then the entire room’s ambiance will get enhanced.

Sweetheart Table Decorations
Many times, family members feel offended that they weren’t selected to be seated with or near the newlyweds. So to avoid any issues on your big day, set up a sweetheart table where the two of you can sit in peace. Since this table is set especially for the bride and groom, make sure you face the guests and other family members, and are close enough to everyone. Decorate this table with either candles, flowers, and don’t forget to place the “Mr. and Mrs.” card. But be sure not to clutter the table.

Table Decoration
Now comes the rest of the tables in the hall. When you wish to know how to decorate a hall, the tables also play an important role. If you would like, you can decorate the rest of the tables in the hall similar, but not identical to the sweetheart table. However, I would advice you not to do this. Keep the sweetheart table unique. Instead, you can take the similar concept but use contrasting colors. Let’s say that you have chosen tulips for decorating your reception hall. Tulips come in red, white, yellow, blue, and mauve. So you can either choose one or a combination of two colors like mauve and white, blue and white, yellow and white, or red and white. I think you got what I’m trying to say here. For table decoration, you can select a neutral color for the tablecloth like beige or off white and use either mauve, blue, yellow, or red tulips for the centerpiece.

The only thing to remember is that don’t overdo any decorations in the reception hall. With flowers and complimenting lights around the venue, you can have yourself a great party. If the reception is being conducted in a garden, then of course, the decorations will be slightly different. To find out more about outdoor decorating ideas, read the Buzzle article on garden wedding decorations.

I hope that after reading this article, you have an idea as to how to decorate a hall. I know that the entire process may seem a little challenging or overwhelming. But trust me, take one step at a time, ask your maid of honor and/or family members to help you out, and this whole thing will get completed with ease. Have a wonderful time planning and decorating for your wedding. Have a happy and blessed married life.

Decorating the arch is an important part of a wedding ceremony. An exquisitely decorated wedding arch creates a beautiful ambiance all around and the arch actually envisions a perfect frame of your awaiting happiness. Whether it’s an exotic decoration or a simple and chaste arch, its presence signifies a warm and wholehearted welcome for your guests. Building wedding arches is usually the responsibility of wedding planners. However, knowing how to build a wedding arch would prove useful if you are planning to customize everything by yourself.
 Building a Wedding Arch

Many contemporary designs have evolved today for building wedding arches, amongst which bamboo designs are more commonly opted for. Wrought iron and wooden arches look traditional and fashionable. You will come across bamboo arches more often in beach weddings. A simple and neatly raised wedding arch looks pure and beautiful while the lavishly decorated arches uplift the glamor of wedding ceremonies. Follow the steps below to know how to build a wedding arch.
  • The easiest way to build a wedding arch is with bamboo sticks. The height the arch should be minimum 8-10 feet. You should arrange for at least 12 bamboo sticks for building a well packed arch.
  • The preparations should start a day ahead since you have to dip the bamboo sticks in water overnight. The sticks will gain flexibility this way and you can easily bend them in any shape.
  • Erecting the bamboo sticks on ground could be done with an additional support or you can directly dig it to ground. Use medium height iron rods or wooden bars for offering support to the bamboo sticks.
  • Attach the sticks to the support by tightly wrapping a wire or a rope. Digging the sticks directly to ground would also look good. Divide the bamboo sticks equally on both sides (12/2).
  • Now bend the free end of the sticks from both sides one after another and keep tying them in succession. Twine the free ends around each other and then tie a knot at the junction with a strong thread.
  • Bending the sticks like the shape of a bow creates the arch. This step completes the framework of the arch. Make sure that the arch is wide enough for decorations.
  • You can also attach a floral tape for extra strength and support. Observe the arch from at a distance to ensure that it’s perfectly shaped.

Decorating a Wedding Arch

Applying a theme to the wedding arch would be a great idea. You can dab on colors that would suit the season. For example, choose different types of orchids and vine plants for summer and springtime weddings. Winter weddings call for pure white and light colored flowers. The flowers are then attached to the arch with colorful threads, tulle and ribbons. You can also clip on maple leaves and lavender flowers. The floral arch is largely popular all over the world and it looks the most beautiful. Wedding couples are also opting for unconventional decorations for arches to make it appear unique. The stand alone piece could be ethereally decorated by applying the wooden theme. Wood of birch and oak trees would serve the purpose wonderfully. Painting the wooden structure with dark ebony color would create a royal look. Over the dark brown wooden arch you can fix a garland of white fresh orchid flowers or red roses. The Gothic theme complements vintage weddings where dark colors is the chosen theme. Prefabricated arches embellished with organza and tulle is truly exotic. Pure white, light shade of aqua blue and baby pink should be color of fabric for decorating wedding arches of classical styles.

The idea of building a wedding arch with bamboo sticks is probably the simplest method. Since wedding is an occasion to be celebrated with happiness and mirth, choose bright and pure colors to reflect a positive vibe all around. Using the ideas mentioned in the content above, you can easily build a wedding arch and then decorate it according to your choice.

If you are planning to have a church wedding, I assume that you would prefer a pure and serene atmosphere at your wedding venue rather than something loud and over the top. The same thinking can be extended when planning church wedding decorations as well. Wedding decorations for a church should ideally be simple, elegant and classy, so that they add and match up to the charm and sentiment that a venue like a church exudes.
Unique Ideas on Simple Church Wedding Decorations

Let’s start with first of all understanding what all constitutes church wedding decorations. The entrance and exit, doors, pews, aisle, altar, ceiling and floor – these are the things and places that need to be dressed up for a church wedding. There are numerous options available for decorating them, such as flowers, ribbons, candles, lights, lanterns, etc. But before deciding on the wedding decorations, you should be sure of the color combination that you want at your wedding. If you ask me, no other color matches the purity and sanctity of the church as white. Having an all white church wedding can make the whole affair look very classy and sophisticated. However, if you are someone who thinks that an all white wedding is a bit boring, a combination of red and white, green and white or purple and white are some other good wedding color schemes for church weddings.
Flowers

Well chosen and displayed fresh flowers add to the beauty of the wedding venue beyond imagination. You can make a beautiful centerpiece with flowers and keep it at the welcome table. You can make arrangements with them and hang them as decorations all around the venue, including at the church entrance and door. Hanging a wreath made from roses at the door is a very unique idea which will immediately attract the attention of your invitees, as soon as they enter the wedding venue. To lend a bit of fairy tale effect to your wedding, you can have the aisle covered with rose petals. In fact, there are so many creative things that you can do with fresh flowers, you only have to think out of box! One thing to remember while choosing flowers is to ensure that they are of the same color as the rest of the wedding decorations.

Lights and Candles

If the church allows, there are a number of innovative ways in which you can light up the venue. Hanging colorful LED lights at the entrance so as to form an arch, lends a fun feel to the atmosphere. This idea however should be strictly used for evening weddings. For morning weddings, an arch made of flowers, balloons and ribbons will suffice. Pillar candles can be placed in hurricane glasses and then used to line up the aisle. Candelabras and candle stands can be placed decoratively at the altar, to enhance its visual appeal. Keeping candles on window sills, adding them to centerpieces or flower arrangements, these are some other simple church wedding decorations that you can consider.

Faux Pearls

One of the most unique yet simple church wedding decoration ideas is to hang strings of faux pearls from the ceiling of the church. Faux pearls are available in colors such as red, white and pink. Pearls of different colors can be stringed together and hung from the ceiling to lend an altogether different feel to the venue. Faux pearls can even be added to other decorative arrangements to make them look more interesting.

Fabrics

Tulle will lend a kind of delicacy to your wedding decorations. You can hang this sheer fabric in the shape of U, from the side of the pews. Complete the “U” with a bow made of ribbon or a flower arrangement, attached at the top. If you are thinking of adding some elaborate decorations to the church wedding, you can hang tulle in some unique crisscross manner from the church walls and place large ribbon bows in between. White, pink and silver tulle looks the best as these colors add a feminine touch to the rest of the wedding decorations.

Potted Plants

These days, it’s not just flowers, but even potted plants are being used as church decorations for wedding. You can order a number of decorative potted plants and place them on either side of the entrance, in a row, for effect. Potted plants especially look great if you have chosen green and white wedding colors. Potted plants can be placed at various corners inside the church and silver artificial stars can be hung from them to give the venue a Christmassy feel.

Wooden Name Initials

As the wedding vows are taken at the altar, it is one place which will very prominently figure in all the wedding photographs. An interesting way to decorate it is to hang the name initials of the bride and the groom, carved out of the wood, at its backdrop. These name initials can be decorated with flowers, moss, pearls and ribbons, to add to their appeal.

With these simple church wedding decorations up your sleeve, you can make any wedding venue attractive and memorable. One last tip before I sign off – when it comes to church wedding decorations, they should not only be planned and designed to look beautiful, but also in a way that the sentiments and feel of the venue remain intact.
